Project Objectives:

The objectives of project MVFC-02 are:

  • Develop a short two-day session to bring to public agency staff members concepts of logistics that are common and important to private sector shippers and carriers.

  • The goal is not to develop trained logistics specialists, but rather to make public sector employees familiar with issues and concepts that are significant to the industry.

Project Abstract:

The primary purpose of the Course is to provide information to public sector—DOT and Metropolitan Planning Organization —staff who work with freight providers or in freight planning or logistics.  This information will help them better understand the needs of the freight community and help them better perform their daily activities.

Task Descriptions:
  1. Literature review
  2. Survey and interview state DOT and MPO staff
  3. Develop focus and format for the class
  4. Develop course materials
  5. Offer course as a dry run
  6. Finalize course
  7. Offer final course and record materials
  8. Post materials to website
