Project Management
Project Advisory Committee (PAC)
Researchers will be required to meet at least twice (typically via teleconference) with CFIRE staff and the project advisory committee (likely composed of state and federal government, industry, and other academics) assembled to assist in guiding the research.
Researchers should be open to editorial suggestions from the PAC and CFIRE staff on interim and final reports. It is expected that researchers will thoroughly edit and revise reports as needed prior to submission.
Researchers will be asked to forward Center staff a list of potential representatives for the PAC within two weeks of formally awarding the project.
Quarterly Progress Reports (QPR)
Researchers will be required to submit progress reports every three months. The first progress report will be due coinciding with the end of the first quarter after signing of the contract to begin work. The final progress report will be due coinciding with the end of the last quarter prior to an accepted (non-draft) final report. Electronic submission in Microsoft Word document format is required.
Final Report
Researchers should aim to provide a final report useful to an audience of state, local, or federal transportation officials. Researchers are encouraged to prepare presentations and reports based on their CFIRE research for conferences and other venues.
Fifteen (15) bound paper copies (one unbound for duplication) of the final report will be submitted, in addition to an electronic version provided in Word format. Please budget accordingly for printing and shipping. A standard template for the cover page and other necessary language is included below:
- Cover Page

Additional requirement
- An electronic presentation of project materials suitable for delivery to a state DOT management team.
