Hotels Near the Wisconsin State Fair

If you’re making the trip in to the Wisconsin State Fair Park West Allis (not to be confused with the Central or Northern Wisconsin State Fairs) and don’t relish making a long drive home the same day, you might be wondering which hotels are closest to the Wisconsin State fairgrounds. While there isn’t anything quite as fancy as the Mount Olympus Hotel Wisconsin Dells nearby (see my last post on waterparks in the Wisconsin Dells), there are plenty of other good options. I’m basing these choices on my own personal experiences as well as online reviews and benefits and amenities each hotel has such as free wifi, breakfast, parking, star rating, and miles from the Wisconsin State Fair Park.

Best Western Plus Hotel Milwaukee West

While this is neither the closest nor the cheapest option in relation to the Wisconsin State Fair, I think it’s a very dependable choice. You can expect the same level of cleanliness and convenience at the Best Western hotels Wisconsin has as you can at any other location around the country. It’s only a short 10 minute drive from the Wisconsin State fairgrounds, but it also puts you a little closer to downtown Milwaukee if you’d like to check that out as well. Although as a Best Western Plus it only gets a 2 star rating, it’s a popular choice – and for good reason. You get the convenience of a free breakfast included, free wifi, free parking, and a fitness center and pool if you need to work off some of those funnel cakes.

Hampton Inn & Suites Milwaukee West

Honestly this could be tied with the Best Western Plus, they are very similar hotels. It’s probably going to come down which one you are a member of the loyalty program for and can collect points at. You get your free wifi, your free breakfast, free parking, pool, exercise facility, easy access to downtown Milwaukee, and the same dependable level of quality you can expect from any Hampton Inn & Suites. The Hampton Inn & Suites Milwaukee West is also the closest hotel to the fairgrounds, you could enjoy the free parking at the hotel and travel to the Wisconsin State Fair on foot in about 10 minutes.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Milwaukee West Allis

This hotel isn’t quite as conveniently located to downtown Milwaukee, but it is easy to get to the State Fair park from there. It’s also a popular choice with budget-conscious fair attendees, as it’s less expensive than the Best Western and the Hampton Inn. You still get all the standard amenities: free wifi, free breakfast, free parking, and a pool. All in all, it’s not a bad choice the only reason it gets a lower rating than the other two is that it’s a little bit less convenient (but certainly not impossible) to access downtown Milwaukee and some of the other local attractions.

Wisconsin State Fair RV Park Milwaukee West Allis

Admittedly, this is not a hotel. However, if you live the RV life this is the only place you can park an RV in the metro Milwaukee area. If you and the family are summer road-trippin’ and want to stop in at the Wisconsin State Fair this is the place to pull in. They have full hookups available and you can easily use it as a jumping off point to other points of interest in the Milwaukee area like the county zoo or shopping at Mayfair Mall. Even if you end up coming through during the off-season, the Wisconsin Stair Fair RV Park Milwaukee West Allis is open year-round! For the busier times (summer), a reservation is a must.
